Spring is here
Time to air out the house, get the garden tilled and the seeds planted. Time for maintenance on snow blowers before putting them away and on lawn mowers before breaking them out

We have plenty of water, several natural springs at our location + Columbia river.... We are looking at setting up a sand filter and then boiling the water to make it potable..... Also looking into a wind gen and putting in our own well.... Ton's pf things in the works here at the home stead... Hope all is good for everyone..... Mark

mark, have dvd you may be interested in about putting in your own well. What's your soil like? If it's like mine on this side of the columbia it's all sand. Can do a lot of the well with hand power. then some air and water power to get a sandpoint well.  have you thought of pv panels as we have abundant sunshine here as well as wind. We are doing a hybrid power system with a 5kw genset as a back up. harbor fright in tricities has some pv panels if your just getting your mind wrapped around that idea and would like to give it a try.

Nice to here from ya Jerry,
We are planning on a couple of the smaller wind-gens next year as well as solar panels...... As for the well, I'm on pretty much rock... When we put our home in, we used a dozer to make it flat.... Nothing but rock!!!!! When we did our perk test for the septic, the rock looked like someone had layed it like brick...... But other then that it's all good....
